Actor John Turturro describes the typically awkward experience of acting in sex scenes. John Turturro studied at the Yale School of Drama. He created the title role of John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea in his theatrical début, for which he won an Obie Award and a Theater World Award.
Since then, Turturro has returned to the stage often, in productions such as Waiting for Godot; performing the title role in Bertolt Brecht’s The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui; and in Eduardo de Filippo’s Souls of Naples, for which he received a Drama Desk nomination. He recently completed Samuel Beckett’s ENDGAME at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).
Mr. Turturro has also performed in more than sixty films, working with directors such as Martin Scorsese (The Color of Money), Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing and Jungle Fever), Robert Redford (Quiz Show), Peter Weir (Fearless), Tom DiCillo (Box of Moonlight), and Joel and Ethan Coen (Miller’s Crossing; The Big Lebowski; O Brother, Where Art Thou?; and the lead role in Barton Fink, which won him the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival and the David di Donatello Award.) His current projects include Columbia Pictures The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, opposite Denzel Washington and John Travolta.
Mr. Turturro received SAG Award nominations for his television portrayals of Howard Cosell in Monday Night Mayhem and Billy Martin in ESPN’s The Bronx Is Burning. He won an Emmy for his guest appearance on the hit series Monk. John Turturro has also directed three films. His directorial debut, Mac, won the Camera d’ Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He also directed Illuminata and the recently-released Romance & Cigarettes, starring James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, and Kate Winslet.

You know when you see those couples, who fell in love immediately and have such a strong love. Do you believe their love continues to grow or fizzles out?
Do you think that love can start very slowly and grow throughout a lifetime? Where there are good times and bad, but the commitment to each other gradually builds the love that each partner has for each other.
Who has better love- the people that start out hot, or the people that work their way through the years getting to that hot love level?
I am currently in a relationship where we fell in love hot & heavy almost straight away, i was smitten & had to be with him no matter what. We now have 2 children but our love doesnt seem very strong as it once was..it has definately fizzled out where he hardly says he loves me anymore & there are no more kisses or cuddles.
My ex, he fell in love with me straight away but it took me almost 3 months to confidently say i was in love with him & commit. We had a great relationship, kisses every day and said we loved each other every day for the whole 5 years we were together..unfortunately i ruined it & we are no longer together.
But comparing the two…1- where love grew over time & 2- we fell in love immediately…i think the best relationship is where the love grew over time because the love felt stronger. Thats my own experience & have never thought about it until reading your question.

slowly but surely…..I read somewhere there’s only 3% passion in a stable relationship. I think you can keep the fire burning throughout the years as long as you show and tell your partner you love them and there should never be verbal or physical abuse. It’s normal to get upset but be careful not to hurt your partner.That will slowly but surely keep the love and the love making from growing.
